I didn't know anything about tyler until some friends played me some music a few nights ago. Pretty talented guy.

I managed two pretty popular 'male teen' stars in the 80s, and think it's refreshing to see someone new and talented. But would it really be such a big deal if tyler came out? I understand that's its pretty well accepted that he either bi or gay, but does it really matter anymore?

I struggled with one client who was gay, but his major label was insistent that he not 'come out'. To this day he's still in the closet, and i think its really a shame.

So, as fans - would you guys care if tyler made it official? Would it really matter one way or another? Girls - would you be LESS interested in him know that he's gay?

I dont think its right for you to try to say hes atleast bi. Do you know ty? Do you hang out with him all the time? Or do you go picking up "guys*yeah right*" with him? Unless you can answer any of those mind ur business

awesome replies. It's great to see that it's immaterial to some of his fans. no, i've never met ty obviously, just chatting with friends and a maverick contact, and the subject came up.

I think it's awesome that it doesn't matter either way. And ya, queer eye and six feet under and will and grace etc etc seem to have changed ppls attitudes. Very cool.

Frankly, i never got involved with fan boards with my artists. i think it's sorta tacky. But anyway...

again, glad to see it doesn't bother female fans if he's gay or str8. And the other cool thing is that the gay teen market is a pretty strong market to tap these days. no question about it. so even if he did come out as 'gay or bi', it might not hurt as much as a few years ago.

As for your client that is still in the closet...something like that is more important than a career, no matter how much that career pays. It's who you are. And if you can't be honest with the world, you can't be honest with yourself, and then there's pretty much no point in life. When he's old, there's no way he'll be able to look back on his life and be proud of himself if he spent the whole time hiding who he really was.

One more thing - I do not know any respectable professional who would say "str8" when referring to sexual orientation.
