"Charlie Bartlett" and "Love"


The world premiere of "Charlie Bartlett". How lofty sounding. Some of you were there and I saw you! An intimate crowd, most of the cast and most of the crew as well watched what so many of us spent last summer working on. Such a cool moment. I related it to being back in high school when I had to do a final project for history class that I had to present to the class and afterwards such a weight was removed! You work so hard on something for so long and the moment comes when you share your work with others … ..….phew. To have the ability to silence a crowd, make them laugh, then make them go "Woa" and then silence them again, well, it's a rare feeling to watch it being pulled off. We were all so proud of it! I hope more of you get to see it while it's at the festival and for the others who can't, I can't wait to hear what you all think in August. August 3rd I believe.



I was just reading something on the plane that was a love story and I have been thinking about the concept of love ever since. It was such a heavy love story that it bummed me out. Was that what love is? Have we, as a pop culture, figured out what true love is supposed to feel like yet, 'cause I'm tired of being jerked around! Is it supposed to be suicidal and reckless like the classic "Romeo and Juliet" or is it more subtle like, say, "My Girl". Are we to know when we're feeling it like in "The Notebook" or have no idea whether what we have is love or not like "Meet the Parents"? Is that a love story? Does that relationship work? I don't even know anymore. My interpretation of love becomes so confusing by these stories and then I always want what I see after I've seen or read it! "Blood Diamond"? Yea! Give me that kind of love. "Dumb and Dumber"? Yea, sure I'll take that. Who knows? Who really knows? Maybe some of you are where I am, maybe some others aren't old enough to even know what that initial tingle is, but I'm sure the majority are sure I am too young to understand love all together if I'm even questioning it and to those of you I say, touché. This is what happens when my flight is too short to have a movie, but too long to ignore these things. Funny. I'll look back on this confused blogs and laugh and laugh.




I won't be in LA for awhile but for those of you who are, or are in the surrounding area, my former landlord and roommate, Josh Kelley, is playing the Troubadour on May 4th. And he'll likely be performing with other musicians I've lived with on the road; we swap around a lot. If you get a chance, please tell them I said hello and thank him for the extra bed when I first moved to Nashville! He is a character to say the least and it is those types of people that are fun to watch because who knows what can happen on any given night! Tell him I still owe him one...

I don't think there is an age to truly understand what love is.

Woah! This blog is seriously deep! I agree Amanda... there is no certain age to "know" love. In my opinion there are soooo many types and levels of love. Like a 18 year olds love towards a boyfriend/ whatever, is going to be completely different from a love that him or her parents have for eachother. Get what im saying? This blog seriously makes me think! hmmmm!

I think the number of definitions for love is higher than the earths population. Think everyone who has ever breathed (dead and alive) times 10? 5? 3? 1? (< that is what I would call the lucky ones). Each one has a different... They all have that same umph.

I like reckless (but not suicidal) love the best. I will never have that we met as children and then married after we dated for 20 years love. (not exactly by choice, but whatever).

No matter the story, love is about all the same, a bit*h.

No I am just babbling.

I heart Tyler.

Funny, these movies/books he is refering to, in someones head out there, they look at Tyler's songs about love from the same light.

I guess I do not normally think like he, I always stress to my children to not base what there life should be like from tv or books. You have your own story to write and you would not want to be sidetracked when a really good sentence comes along. I guess it is all good for ideas and inspiration. I do not think Tyler takes it as serious as that paragraph sounds either.

He's sooo... deeep? I had the craziest dream last night - where iwas like my closest guy friend ever but he looked like Tyler? does that make sense - i never have dreams about tyler really so it was like WOAH..but he was a really good person for comforting you.. lol thats random but anyway! Yeah.. I love his thoughts muchly! x
