The Dude who’s not voting

So bummed, but I guess a lesson learned. I can't vote in the primary here in Tennessee 'cause I didn't register as a voter early enough and I can't in California 'cause I don't officially live there now. Damn! Feb. 5th will come and go and I'll stand idly by as you all go skipping to the polls, laughing and holding hands and shouting out who you're going to vote for. Maybe I'll volunteer to be the guy handing out "I Voted" stickers just so I can feel involved. Nooo!! The more I think about this it kills me! Take it from me, as soon as you move to a new city register! It's so easy to do and you don't want to end up like me; sad and passing out punch and stickers on election day.

The Dude who’s not voting PART 2

You know that feeling when all is lost and you just feel worthless? Yea, well I just talked to my county's election office and they won't even let me pass out stickers or punch if I'm not registered for this election. Nooo!! Just let me pass out a sticker! One! But oh hey, there's a city representative election in August so, you know, I can start getting excited about that, right? They said they'd love my help for that election…….that is….. after I'm registered. I don't know...my enthusiasm for stickers may have dwindled by then. No, what am I saying? I will pass out stickers congratulating people for voting for our county board and state officials with the same fervor I would have for this primary! Stickers and punch will win in the end!

Tyler

PS If any of you end up stickering or punching please take photos and post them on the message boards.

Oh that reminds me, I got to make sure they send my absentee ballot in time. I'm a mail-by voter for California, since I technically live in California, just go to college in Michigan.

I'm sorry for Tyler, but at least this was a helpful reminder for me.

Poor Tyler Frown

Does anyone know if you need to get an absentee if you just live in a different part of the state?

Yes, at least I had to when I still went to college in CA. Because if you are at any address that's different from your residential address they have to be able to know where to mail your vote. I would try looking where to register as a mail-by voter for your state, try finding out how to contact the Ohio Registrar of Voters.

yeah, amy and I missed the last presidential election by 2 months Frown bummer! I def. would have voted for Kerry then!

But yeah, I can't wait to vote this time! I think I might actually try to make a trip back home to actually vote in the booths, since so far I've only voted by absentee.

Does anyone want to share which candidates they're supporting? I know some people like to keep that private, but it never hurts to hear someones opinions. I am really torn right now between Clinton and Obama....I like them both. I think I'm pulling a little more for Clinton though. This is the first year that I've REALLY paid attention to the campaigning (I did a little last time, but it really makes a difference....to me at least......when you're actually able to vote. I don't want to make a mistake!) and it's been really interesting. I think it would be nice to have a woman or African American in office as well.....this country needs a little diversity! But I do really support what both of them stand for, especially with regards to the war in Iraq! Anyone else agree? disagree?

Personally I'm a fan of Mike Gravel. Out of the top three democrat contenders, I'm pulling for Edwards. I really dislike how both Obama and Clinton want to get involved with Iran, even if that brings another war in the Middle East by the US.

Is anyone registered with no party affiliation? I am.

I'm leaning more towards Barack and Roll Obama right now. I was torn between him and Clinton, but now I think he's pulling ahead. She still has time to sway my vote though. All I know is I want a Democrat in office!!!

Im going for Huckabee. Razz Eventhough im sure he will not get it. At the end of it all im sure ill be voting for Gulliani. Smile

I know Bush isnt the smartest cookie in the cookie jar, but i do think he has done some things in the right direction. Ya know the 1st year of him in office 9/11 happened. I dont think anyone could have done a better job with that.

I've tried to read up on each canidate: republican and democrat. We need someone new in office, democrat im not sure about that, but its time for a change. My vote is on the republican side. My veiws are more conservative than anything. Smile

Amanda you can technically register today. They said that today's date is the last day to register to vote for the California primary on February 5th.

I'm so excited to vote!! Maryland is letting 17 year olds who are going to be 18 by the General Election vote in the primaries and luckily I make the general election so I just sent in my voter registration yesterdaySmile

I have to say I'm torn between Hillary & Barack, but I would rather see Obama in the office. I keep taking online surveys to see who I should vote for, too and they keep saying Obama haha even though I'm not taking them too seriously...
