Aww I missed the chat. I wish I would have been able to talk in it, considering I'm the only one who is lives in the same area that Tyler is currently living in.

If I remember right there is 2 different rates - one for goods and one for services (I think?).
Michigan has a 6% sales tax rate on non-food items, and no tax on food so 9% was a huge jump for me!

I read the chat again and realized we were only 3 fans talking to him! That was kinda private haha!
I guess it was at a time (in America) when people couldn't connect to the internet, because they were doing something else, maybe they were having lunch or something... I feel so lucky that I was actually there for a chat because I usually miss them (it's pretty often because of the time differences, it's the night in France when he does fireside chats)... Anyway... That was nice.

MANDY! Ike & I want to move to the Nashville area after we get married. Holy crap, houses are CHEAP down there. I saw this gorgeous brick 5BR, 4 1/2 bath, 2 car attached garage, formal dining room and living room...that house, in Minnesota, would cost at least $500,000. How much in Tennessee? Just over $150,000.

Sales tax in Minnesota is 6.5% (and 0 for food & clothing), and we pay SO much for income tax!! I think we're the second highest in the country at the moment. About $350 is taken out of every paycheck of mine for taxes & retirement. It's ridiculous!

Af far as crime goes...that's gonna happen in every highly-populated area. There are parts of Minneapolis that I wouldn't even walk around in while wearing a bullet-proof vest. But then there are other parts of Minneapolis, that I'm in all the time.

Mandy...when we move to Tennessee, we should get houses near each other. Then you can babysit my kids Smile Wait (wiat)...I don't know if I'd trust you to take care of them. Razz

Crime does happen everywhere - but some areas have a much higher risk of something happening and I personally prefer staying away from those areas. There is a pretty good reason why housing in the actual city of Nashville is quite cheap. I feel safer walking the streets of Chicago than Nashville.

There are some pretty nice parts of Tennessee, that housing is very affordable and are very safe that are about an hour away from Nashville. Every state has its problems, but I'm have known plenty of others who moved to Nashville and found it wasn't anything what they expected and moved back to their home state. I think it's sorta like LA, everyone moves to LA expecting to get their big break, it's not what they expect and they move back.
