Hey guys and gals! Tonight at the street team meeting we were discussing a lot of various things, but in light of the recent discussions about the abscense of certain board members, we thought it might be a good idea (for those of you who want to) to have an emergency contact list. I know a lot of people would be concerned about keeping things confidential, which is why we had discussed keeping things small: like maybe have groups of 3 or 4 where you share information on how you can be reached. I was also thinking that maybe one person could have a master list as well? Maybe the moderator would do it? (moderator...feel free to chime in...!) We were kind of thinking about maybe sharing addresses, a phone number for you (like a cell number or something), and also an emergency only number (like a parent, friend, or sibling...clue them in, of course!), and maybe your screen name as well.

We could either get into groups ourselves, or if you're left groupless or would like more people in your group, you could post that you are in need of a group....and whoever is in charge could pair you up (again, moderator?). You could pair up in this thread, and then start a PM with your group members to confidentially share your information. I know that as a member of the DC area crew, we have shared cell numbers with each other (we also did secret santas one year!) to help when we're meeting up at concerts...but it is also nice to know that they are able to contact me when something happens. Several of you guys called and texted me when everything was happening at Virginia Tech, and it was just amazing to know you guys were thinking of me and making sure I was safe. All of you guys are so special to me, and tonight at the street team meeting we discussed how close and family-like we were here on the boards...it would be awful if something happened to any of you and we couldn't get in touch with someone to find out where you were.


So, after much rambling.....who's with me?



(PS. Moderator: feel free to move this to wherever you see fit. It also might be a good idea, if it's possible, to sticky tab this for a while so that it stays at the top of the boards until we get things figured out...what do you think?)


Oh, and also guys, since we are on the topic of addresses and such, we also discussed tonight the idea of having board pen pals. How do you guys feel about that? Just basically the pen pals would exist to every so often, or as often as you feel like it, send a cute little note or letter by snail mail (I know! SNAIL MAIL! So 1900's, right? ) to brighten someones day or keep in contact or for fun...or it could serve as a great source of procrastination. Either way, it's fun...and I know several people who want to participate!!! Maybe we should start a separate thread for this? Mandy?

Emily I think that's a good idea... I only have some french fans phone numbers but no one in here! And when I realized that Nicole was not coming any longer on the boards I was so disappointed that I didn't have her phone number to know what was happening. Let me know about the groups and I'll give my cell number and my parents number...

So does that mean someone heard from Nicole?

Sounds like a great idea!

Plus, a bunch of us are friends on facebook so we're able to see what's going on. Like ie. Mouna. I don't think any of us has heard from her in a while but we know she's alive and well from facebook. Minifeed is not such a bad thing after all.

No, we still haven't heard from her.

I do think an emergency contact list is a good idea. Anyone who wants to/feels comfortable...PM me your phone number and/or an emergency number. And, if you send your address, I'll be sure to send fun snail mail and little things throughout the year!

I think it's a good idea too, but I would have to give limited information though, because I go to school out of state. I still think its a great idea though.

Do you think there should possibly be at least one emergency contact within the general vicinity or region? So it makes local calls easier and such. Also we can notify the people in our groups, if we're going on vacation, or have to take time away from the boards.

Or maybe we could have a special topic to let people know where we're going on vacation. It would be easier... We could have this thread always at the top of the boards so everyone can see it... a little bit like the introduction thread... I don't know... But that's what I did on the French message board and it works well.

Sorry for double posting! I was also thinking maybe I could have the phone number of at least one of you. I already have Mag's number but I mean an American member. This way if I have problems with internet connexions or whatever I can text someone!

Has anyone heard anything from Erica (Virginia Erica) lately? I haven't seen her post here in quite a while either...

I knew Erica was all right because on her myspace page we can see that she logs in pretty often...I saw she was online a few days ago. I wish I had her phone number to send a text... I feel so bad that I didn't ask her earlier... I'm gonna send a mail or a message on MySpace to give her mine and ask her if she wants to give me hers...

Haha I'm so glad you asked this. I just got off the phone with Erica and explained to her the Nicole ordeal that has taken over THMB recently. Then she mentioned (jokingly) if anyone noticed she stopped posting as well, haha. As Lindsey said, Erica is alright, but she did lose her internet. She manages to get online from time to time at her local library but doesn't get a chance to post around much.

Clara, I'll be sure and mention your message to Erica tomorrow when I talk with her after she gets off work! You're very nice for caring!

Lastly, I think the emergency contact is a great idea.

I figured she must be ok or you would have said something...and I think I remember you saying something earlier about talking to her. But she hadn't been posting so I was worried.

Ok Thanks MK! I used to talk on AIM with Erica and Nicole and I just miss them... I was worried about them. But now I know that everything's ok!

If you guys would like, I'd love to have everyones numbers and contact info as well!
