So I didn't see a similar thread anywhere, and it might well turn out to be a waste of time, but I just wanted to share this with all of you.

Today I was in town after college with my friends, and we stopped by Cash Converters (sort of like a pawnshop), and headed to the back, where they had the most sexy acoustic guitar ever (note: I did not buy it), so I picked it up and took a seat in front of my friends, pissing around and checking it was in tune and everything. After a little while of messing about, gathering a following of sing-along, I decided to knock out some Tyler Hilton. So I played through When It Comes, singing along with it... The crowd loved it, and seemed disappointed when I put the guitar back on the rail and left with my friends. Outside, one of my friends came up to me and said "that was amazing, you're an awesome song writer."

...Now, I found this to be quite offensive. Simply because they hadn't heard of Tyler and then made out as if I had claimed the song as my own. Needless to say I pointed out his mistake. But I secretly thanked Tyler for bringing me some attention. It just annoys me that a great musician is not getting the recognition he deserves over here in the UK, not to mention that I can't find a copy of his album in any shop over here because they "never heard of it"... I felt quite hurt.

I guess it's up to me to spread the word about Tyler across the UK...

I look moody... Just ignore that...

Wow! What a great story.

First off, I love that you know Ty and know his music well enough to just crank it out in a pawn shop. You seem to rock. That's just kick-ass if you ask me.

Second, I feel your pain about not many people knowing who Ty is and him not getting recognized for how awesome a singer and songwriter he really is. I try everyday to spread the word and stress to people buying his album is worth it. Take a chance ya know?

Third, HUGE snaps to you for correcting that guy and doing the right thing. Awesomeness.

Lastly, it completely SUCKS you cannot find his CD there. Major bummer. I own 6 of his albums. LoL. I bought 2 the day it came out, I have it twice off iTunes, and I have bought 2 more at meet and greets for him to sign. I'm a woman obsessed. LoL. I would suggest buying it off iTunes then burning (legally) to a disk. Instant Tyler.

Thanks for sharing your story it was great and welcome to the boards! I haven't seen you post before thought you obviously have a few times because it says you've got 8 posts. Haha! Big Grin

"Everyone in hear lift up your cell phones. Lift them up real high so everyone can see them. Okay, now look around you. Can you see how beautiful this is, this is everyone loving each other and working together. Look at all the thousands of people here. I want you to remember this moment and remember that you are never alone. You are all loved and I hope that you never find yourself in a situation where you feel that you aren't. Even if you do, you can just remember that everyone here in Brixton Academy tonight, including me, loves every last one of you. And that's a lot of people."-Billy Talent, 17/02/07

cool story! Have you checked awarestore.com for the album? They probably have it, but I'm not sure if they ship overseas.

I love your story Smile
It was cute and sad at the same time.
Tyler would be so honored to know that you played his songs^^ There's a good point: your friends loved the lyrics Wink
Just tell them 'You'll see, sooner or later, you'll know about Tyler Hilton and you'll LOVE him'. 'Cause I'm sure they will Smile -- that's what I always say to my friends when they ask me who Tyler Hilton is^^ They laugh but I know I'm right. Haha.

Yeah I must try shopping online for the album(s)... Anyway I'm not quite sure what the point of this was, it's just that this is the only place I felt I could talk about it and have anybody care what I'm saying. Smile
But yeah I'm glad some people 'enjoyed' the story, and it's just a crying shame that the poor guy isn't getting the recognition he deserves... Think I'll need to buy the albums and then replace all the work CD's with them so they play nothing but Tyler Hilton all day through the shop... Well, I was joking, but now I think about it...

lol. I have i think 8. All different ones. I count singles and the When It Comes video DVD. I really want the How Love Should Be video.

That was such a cool story! I'm sure Tyler would be very happy to know you're promoting him like crazy. If they thought that was awesome songwriting, they should hear Faithful, Gloria, and You'll Ask For Me. They're AMAZING!

Haha. I do the same thing. The first thing I ask new people when I meet them is, "Have you heard of Tyler Hilton?" Just about everyone says no say you can imagine my shock when a guy said yes, of course. He watches OTH. I was like, "omg. that's so awesome!" Smile I've already given one of my new friends Tyler first CD and I'm gonna give her a mix of his live new stuff.
