Sheets and "Self Check Out"


I'm stopping everything I'm doing to publicly denounce two very frustrating things in my life. One! I can't figure out how to fold the bottom sheet that hugs the corners of my bed. It's impossible. It's like trying to fold a shower cap. How do you properly fold this? I got an etiquette book for Christmas. Mmm...maybe it says in there somewhere? Two! The deceiving allure of the "self check out" option at a grocery store. I thought it was as easy as the "self check in" at airports but it isn't at all. I cleverly got out of line at the Publix Grocery I was shopping at here in Tennessee to head over to the empty self check out area to speed things along (I thought) and (I'll admit) to fulfill a child hood desire to be a grocery bagger. It is hard, complicated, the attendant spends, like, half the time standing next to you helping you (so what's the point), and I had heavy things smashing light things and bagged everything wrong. My Terra chips were smashed, my tomato bruised, and my smile gone, AND it took twice as long to get out of there, line and all! Grocery shopping is usually so fun! What happened? I'll tell you. The evil "self check out." Now you know...

That was cute. I always do the self check-outs with my mom. I scan everything and she bags. Whenever I have cans or bottles, i roll them across the thing. It's so fun. Too bad Tyler didn't have as good of as experience. He just needs practice. Or to just go to a cashier next time

I use to like using the self checkout...until I went to one with a cake from the bakery where the scanning sticker was on the top of the cake. Yea...so I would have had to turn the cake upside down to scan it...and there wasn't a person in sight to help me. I had to hunt someone down. Bad experience...ruined self checkout for me. I still use it...but with a bit of fear....

Okay…so I’m pretty neurotic about things being all neat and organized, so I totally know what Tyler is saying about folding fitted sheets! Soooo…about a month ago, I got online because I couldn't figure out how to do it and it was driving me nuts!!! Well, I looked online and I found this video…and yes, you may look a little funny trying to do it, but it actually worked for me, so I thought I would pass it on. I’m not sure if Tyler gets on here that often, but Mr. Hilton, if you get to it first, you can pass the word on to Tyler.

Haha..thanks for that link...I think I am gonna try that...I usually get so frustrated that I just roll it into a little ball and call it a day...haha.

I hate fitted sheets altogether...they never seem to fit the bed and everytime I try to do the third corner it always goes down hill

Same with self-check outs...I always get nervous since it's either really good or really bad...one time it just started flashing at me so I just gave up and left (after putting whatever I was going to buy back of course...it wasn't a good shopping day anyway...)

Needless to say...I feel Tyler on this one....

self-check outs have always been a pretty horrific experience for me. I always have issues yet I continue to back and try to conquer that machine. I don't know why I put myself through all the trouble with scanning issues and then "item removed from bagging area please scan again" or something along those lines then as tyler said you basically have a cashier helping all the time...so whats the point? I don't really know but someday I will get that self-check out. I have issues with the sheets too...sometimes I just wish I didn't have to use them. I think I am gonna try that folding technique from the vid.

I find self check-outs funny, well let me rephrase it, I find it funny when my mom talks back to the self check-outs.

I learned how to fold the fitted sheet from some show I was watching.... Oprah, Live with Regis and Kelly...? I can't remember. I also had a hard time the first time I used the self check-out. My grocery store is still under remodel construction, but they do have the self check-out set up and it is only worth it if you have less than four items b/c it is such a pain in the ass. Once you battle with it, you realize why there is never a line to use them.

Haha...that is so true. I hate it when after you wash it a couple of times, you can't exactly tell which is the long part and which is the wide part. I almost ALWAYS put mine on wrong and end up having to re-do it! It's so annoying!

Haha...that is so true. I hate it when after you wash it a couple of times, you can't exactly tell which is the long part and which is the wide part. I almost ALWAYS put mine on wrong and end up having to re-do it! It's so annoying!
