I've had the album since December, and I listen to it all the time. However, like with most albums, I go through the motions of listening to the album and I know the lyrics, but it's generally months later before I actually listen to the album and what's being said.
I've always kind of thought that "Glad" was a happy song but I actually listened to it yesterday, and I think it's a really sad song...but at the same time I could see how it could be a happy song. I want to think/hope that it's actually a sad song and the upbeat nature of the song and the title are meant to form a contradiction with the lyrics. What do you think? I have this whole critical analysis planned out but it's 6:40 a.m. and my brain's not quite ready for it yet, haha. ---  "If you're like me, you've got more CDs than you can go to shows for. I think its more like sarcastic....
Its about a girl he knew in highschool (and exchange student) who had all the guys kinda wrapped around her finger (...even Tyler at one point  ) But anyways...he went back to meet her when he went around Europe and he found that it was the same way in the town she lived....so he wrote that song because he thought that was such a weird way to live...That's why its one of my favorite songs...its so creative the way he wrote it...  ♥ Mandy ♥ (Tyler Hilton Street Team Leader) *Join the Tyler Hilton Street Team! i always thought of it as a more of a happy song. it doesn't seem sad to me.

I could see sarcastic. Now that I've actually paid attention to the lyrics, I find it to be a song about a girl who's very manipulative and tends to get what she wants with guys, but Tyler can see through it and he's totally calling her out on her b.s.

I agree on the sarcastic thing...

"You said your life needed something special Which you don't have Well, aren't you glad" offtopic- when i first heard it at a show, it was the first time i heard of tyler. when i heard him say "your life couldnt get much better" i thought it was a great song lol and he was smiling and ahh i became an instant fan and its still one of my favorites |
