Okay, Amber & Alison are both going to hate me for this. And I'm actually hating myself a bit, too haha.

So, down at SXSW in March, we went to see Kyle Riabko at an Aware showcase at this really fancy hotel. It started with Blue Merle, then Glen Phillips. The next guy to take the stage...was really...interesting, I guess. At the end of his set, we stood there asking ourselves "WTF just happened?!" And I think we were sort of in shock even throughout Anna Nalick's set. Luckily Kyle closed the night, because otherwise we probably wouldn't have been able to sleep that night.

We made fun of him for the next couple days...well actually, we still make fun of him. And he (along with Bryan Greenberg) are behind our obsession with the word "hardcore". But...Mat's song "Undeniable" is really starting to grow on me.

I've been getting really into Mat Kearney lately. Someone gave me his EP for free a couple weeks ago, and I really like it. I'm actually seeing him tomorrow with Matt Wertz and Josh Hoge, and I'm excited. I have no idea what to expect from his live show. The posts above this are the only things I've heard about him live.

His CD came out yesterday, and I'll pick it up tomorrow at the show if I have enough money. He kinda reminds me of Citizen Cope in the slightest way.

He's playing in Madison Wisconsin in June. Maybe I'll go see him. Too bad Matt Wertz isn't going to be there too.

Mat Kearney was so good and was really nice! He is just so great! My guy friend that went along is in love with him (in a totally heterosexual way) now too. He got a standing ovation from the audience which is really rare for an opener. Wertz didn't even get a standing ovation. Wertz was great too, but I just think that pretty much everyone had heard him before, and not Mat Kearney, so they were just blown away. I picked up his CD and I'm excited to listen to it. I think the 3 hour drive to Lancaster today will help that out.

Oh, and Josh Hoge, ummm. Marry me? haha

PS- Maggie, I'm jealous that you get to go tonight! I'm contemplating going "to see my brother" on Sunday and going to the show in Charlottesville.

I love "Nothing Left To Lose". I got the CD from Aware, but haven't listened to it yet...I need to put it on my iPod and listen tomorrow at work!

Well well. One of our local alternative/adult stations played some Mat Kearney the other day...and I am a fan. Need to get my hands on his CD, but I was really impressed! Bump for him!

Thanks about my hair! I actually dyed it recently, and I miss that hair A LOT. I'm going to get it back to that as quickly as possible though. Mat told me he liked my hair that night too....so I'm thinking that was a good hair night haha.

And I agree...he looks quite grim.

they play him on BOS all the time...as long as I'm not working I'm pretty sure I'm going to his concert the 13th....I've always liked him (I've just never seen this thread before)
