Pop Singer Howie Day Charged With In-Flight Rowdiness
Singer Scheduled To Be Arraigned Friday

BOSTON -- Pop singer Howie Day was arrested at Logan International Airport for rowdy behavior on a Boston-bound flight, authorities said.

David Procopio, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney's office, said Day was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in East Boston District Court on a charge of interfering with a flight crew.

Procopio did not know details of the charges against Day. The Boston Herald reported that Day, a native of Brewer, Maine, was sitting in first class on an American Airlines flight from Dallas that arrived early Thursday.

Witnesses told the Herald that Day and his entourage had a lot to drink and began harassing other passengers. The flight crew alerted State Police, who were waiting at the gate when the flight arrived in Boston.

"He was placed under arrest and transported to the State Police barracks at Logan," said trooper Tom Ryan.

In March 2004, Day was arrested in Madison, Wis., for allegedly locking a woman in the bathroom of a tour bus after she refused his sexual advances. He then broke the cell phone of another woman who tried to call police, according to the criminal complaint.

that's amazing... Howie was actually supposed to be at an event I was at yesterday... they told us Howie couldn't make it because of a family emergency, but they would reschedule for sometime next month... hmmm... makes ya think

Yeah me too...if that other thing wa true about locking a woman in a bathroom...that is really shocking.

There was a article on cnn.com that said he took a sleeping pill and the alcohol and pill made him intoxicated.....

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Howie Day was arrested at Logan International Airport for rowdy behavior on a Boston-bound flight after he became intoxicated from a mix of alcohol and a sleeping pill.

The 24-year-old pop singer pleaded innocent to a charge of interfering with a flight crew at his arraignment Friday in East Boston District Court. He was released on personal recognizance and refused to comment to reporters afterward. He's due back in court March 16.

Day, who is from Brewer, Maine, was returning home for the holidays and took a pill to help him sleep on the flight from Dallas, said his lawyer, Paul Kelley.

"He had a couple of drinks. The pill interacted with the drinks and he became intoxicated. He feels badly if he inconvenienced anyone, or caused any discomfort," Kelley told reporters outside court. "He has and will apologize, and our hope is that we'll be able to resolve this thing as promptly as possible."

David Procopio, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney's office, said Day smoked a cigarette in the airplane bathroom.

"He was verbally abusive to the flight crew and was kicking the backs of seats of passengers in front of him," Procopio said.

The flight arrived at Logan on Thursday.

Oh my gosh, I never heard about that thing in Madison. I live near there. But then again I think that was before his song Collide was popular. And I don't really pay much attention to the news. But it's just weird that it happend here.

Kinda sad, but I'm not surprised. During all my encounters with him (except one) he's been a total ass. I'm surprised some of you guys haven't heard about the bathroom/cellphone incident. I remember their being a thread about it here(my lurker roots are showing). I was supposed to see Howie on Halloween '04, but he was sick and couldn't show up, so the Pat Mcgee Band became the headliners, and they sang this hilarious song about Howie to the music of "Collide". It was something like:

"Even the best hair falls sometimes,
Even bathrooms lock sometimes.
My foot and your cellphone collide."

I don't remember it very well, since I heard that once over a year ago.

Oh, and since we're on the topic of Howie Day gossip...

Edit: I found the mtv article about the previous "incident".

I still <3 his music though.
