Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp of the Wreckers will be putting their work as a duo on hold later this year to pursue solo projects. The long-term future of the duo is unclear, but a spokesman says the solo CDs are merely a creative decision made by the two singer-songwriters. Branch had a successful career as a pop artist when she and Harp teamed up as the Wreckers for Stand Still, Look Pretty, the country album that has sold more than 750,000 copies. During a Monday night (July 23) club appearance in New York City, Branch announced that Harp is engaged to Jason Mowery, the fiddle player in their touring band. The Wreckers still have numerous tour dates scheduled through the end of September, including 19 shows as the opening act on Keith Urban's tour.

I read about that earlier. Jess even posted in the thread about it. She makes it clear that is was a MUTUAL desicion between the both of them.

I've been waiting for solo Jess stuff since Preface!!!! I'm so excited!

Aw! That's such a bummer. I love them together! But, if that is what they want, I wish them the best of luck. I'm sure they will both do well on their own.

Jess is amazing solo...

I like them both a lot equally. I was a Michelle Branch fan when she first came out and it was because of her that I saw the OTH tour, and where I feel in love with The Wreckers music and also when I became a Tyler fan!!!

Don't get me wrong. Michelle is an incredibly talented singer as well. I just don't think Jessica gets the credit she deserves. I've heard so many people refer to the Wreckers as "Michelle Branch and that other chick"....and she deserves so much more than that.

^ I completely agree with that, but I think that comes with the territory of coming on board into the music scene with someone who has been around a few years that is well known. In a way it's a good thing, because Jessica gained a lot of Michelle's fanbase. It also helped Michelle spread out into country music. A lot of doors were opened to the both of them as The Wreckers.

I think it would've been harder for Jessica to get her name out there without The Wreckers. It would've been done eventually, but maybe not with quite the success as The Wreckers album. She got a good boost this way, and will definitely sell a lot more albums now than she would've coming out with her solo album before.

i cant wait to see Jess's solo stuff!! i think she will do amazing

I think it will be interesting and really great to hear Jessica's solo album. I think it will be incredible and it also will be great to hear Michelle's solo album too, because she hasn't done one in so long.

What show is that? I imagine the last show will be a sellout, because everyone will want to attend.

One of the last show, not the last. lol I'm going to the Kansas City one on Aug 24. And of the dates they have on myspace, it's one of the last ones. They could add more. lol

They are touring through the end of December. Keith Urban hasn't announced the tour stops for the next leg in his tour (I've been watching very closely to them, because he needs to come to Michigan!!!). Also, I noticed their My Space site is behind a lot of times with their tour dates and stuff. Not to mention for the longest time that site said they were coming to Houston, TN and Dallas, TN

I wish I could see a Wreckers show, but even if they stopped near me, I can't really see any concert shows, since I was unable to get a summer job, and need to make sure I have the most money available for paying college.

wow. then im glad i saw/met them together on the one tree hill tour then. I havnt seen them since, which sucks.

I still haven't met them OR seen em live Lucky you! Though I have talked to Jess on the phone before. siigh. Need.to.meet.them. (or at least Jess..haha)
