Alright, so a few of you may know that I was accepted to go to the Junior Statesmen Summer School at Georgetown this summer. The Junior State of America is a non-profit, non-partisan, student-run organization that helps teach high school students about the workings of government and politics, and I have been a member for three years.

The total tuition is about $4,000 and my parents are only paying $1000, so I "get" to fundraise the rest, but I'm struggling.

Basically, does anybody have ideas of what I can do to raise money? I'm in desperate need because whatever I don't raise is coming directly out of my bank account.

I know a lot of people on here are pretty broke like I am (haha) but if anybody wanted to join the cause to send Julia to DC, I have set up a website at jsa.kintera.org/jsternfeld where you can sponsor me. Even $5 would help tremendously.

For those of you college students, and other people who just simply don't have money to donate, I hope you can try to pass on my webpage to other people you know who might be able to.

And like I said before, I'm also in need of some good ideas for fundraising, so if any of you have done something similar to this, please give me some tips

Julia, when I was accepted to my conference thing in DC it was really pricey. It was in Georgetown too actually. I got my story printed in my local newspaper and a ton ton ton of people donated for me to go. My dad's company ended up being really supportive and matched all the donations. They payed all my travel expenses and the cost of the program (around $5000+) So talk to your town newspaper to see if you can get some publicity. Good luck
