After saying I was gonna read this book over 7 months ago I finally bought it Sunday night and finished it today. I loved it and will definitely look into reading other books by Jodi Piccoult.

PS I love You is also a really good book. The movie did a good interpretation but the book was just so great. It's a total chick book.

While we're on the subject of Jodi Piccoult, has anyone read any of her other books? I've read both the Pact and My Sister's Keeper already, so if anyone has any other favorites please share. Any other author/book suggestions? I'm going bookshopping this weekend. Smile I have a ton of giftcards I need to use.

Also I'm thinking about keeping a booklist to see what I read over the course of the year, does that sound like a silly idea? Or good?

I also have read Vanishing Acts, which was good...but I liked the other two better. I am reading Mercy right now (and have been for like a year)...and I just can't get into it. Not that it's bad...it's pretty good...but I just don't have time to finish it. I also have Picture Perfect that I haven't ready yet

I got "Nineteen Minutes" from the library over the summer...except it turned out to be the audio book instead of the real book Frown

It was like 20 disks long so I didn't get to it all before summer was over but I uploaded them to my Itunes...where they are still waiting to be listened...

Except when I put my Itunes on shuffle and they come up ALL the time and it drives my roommate insace because one minute we'll be listening to Boys II Men (or something ridiculous) then you'll hear "And as Josie was walking down the steps...."

Haha...I'm pretty sure there is a setting on iTunes where you can program a song (or in this case, audiobook) to play less than other songs.

It doesn't seem silly. I think I mentioned in this thread that I was doing the 50 book challenge which is to read 50 books in 1 year and keep track of them.

I just read my first Jodi Picoult book (and by read I mean finish... I've been "reading" My Sister's Keeper since January) but anyways I read "Nineteen Minutes" at the end of last month and it was so good...

Amy & Emily, I don't know if you guys have read that book but it deals with a school shooting and it was excellently done. I don't know if thats something you'd be interested in but I would still recommend it.

And I just bought The Pact off of amazon (I have to admit, the selling point for me was that the girls name was Emily).

I also juuuuust finished (as in about 10 minutes ago) Slaughterhouse-five by Kurt Vonnegut. This was hands down the funniest book I have ever read. There were parts I was literally laughing out loud. I also read The Great Gatsby for my AP Lit class and LOVED it... I thought it was so excellent. Now I'm reading This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen and its really good so far.

I know I'm like the only one that's been posting here but I finished The Pact yesterday and I agree... so good. I liked it a lot better than Nineteen Minutes. I'm reading My Sisters Keeper now, too.

My Sister's Keeper is excellent. I cried so bad at the end, I usually don't cry over books.

I'm reading Hocus Pocus by Vonnegut and it is so far even funnier than Slaughterhouse-five. I didn't know that was possible.

annd I finished The Time Traveler's Wife. it was really good and interesting.

Aw yay! You have to let me know when you've finished it. I don't know if you like trying to figure out the endings, but there is definitely some foreshadowing as to the twist.

It's weird I had the HARDEST time getting into My Sister's Keeper when I started reading it in January, but now I've read more in one day then I did in that whole month! haha. I guess cause I've read two of her books now I've gotten used to her style.

And Cris, I checked out the summary for Hocus Pocus and it seems good! I was weary about reading SH-5 just because it was in that sci-fi/history category and thats not me, but it was worth it. I think I'm going to check out HP, though... it sounds funny.

Ok! I'm really going to stop posting here but I JUST finished My Sister's Keeper (literally 10 minutes ago) and oh man!! Cris- you were so right. This has been the 2nd book I've cried over (the first was The Truth About Forever). The ending was just so. sad.

I just recently read Dispatches From the Edge by Anderson Cooper and wow. I started reading it late one night, and I had to make myself not finish it because I had some things to do the next day where I knew I would be wanting to read something good. It was just amazing. I have had a crush on Anderson Cooper for years, but even if you have no idea who he is the book will bring you to tears, make you laugh like crazy, and seriously make you think. I wouldn't even be able to think of enough words to describe how I loved the book.
